Back in 2005, Hometown Art Gallery (HAG) was created to meet a market demand for an easy, turn-key solution for artists to sell their work over the internet.
In order to meet this demand, the HAG team quickly developed a system that allowed our artists to easliy upload their own artwork and market it to the masses. The original framework was less flexible then needed in order to implement large-scale changes to the website and add new features.
A few of you have been wondering what we have been doing. HAG has seemed to be stagnant, you may think. However, over the last eight months, the development team has been working on a completely new framework by which we can more easily grow and expand the features on the website.
Most of these changes you will not notice by just looking. Think of it like a heart transplant. The recipient of a new heart may not change in physical appearance on the outside, but the new "ticker" inside her will work better then the old, less responsive one.
The good news is that the upgrade to the framework has been fully tested and is complete! What does this mean for HAG? Here is a list of benefits we will see from the upgrade:
- More robust "behind-the-scenes" processing
- Better error identification and resolution
- Even more secure
- More flexibility to add new features
- We can focus our energies moving forward on significant growth!
So, while this may not seem like a major change on the surface, it will create a much more flexible environment moving forward. We are extremely excited about the changes, and we will be continuing to communicate upcoming new features and marketing endeavors we will be pursuing for the remainder of 2008!
